Yesterday I went up to Park City for my second orientation for the Film Festival. The Festival starts today so all the signs were up, theatres set up, and lots of crowds were rolling in. It was pretty neat to be there, and I am looking forward to the next couple weeks.
Sundance 2011: Be There!
I had to check-in and go get my swag :
Puffer Vest from Kenneth Cole, Scarf from Acura, Hat from Chase, Nalgene from Filter for Good and Loreal Mascara :]
Not to mention my credential and the various print materials. It's pretty sweet.
Lesson #1 I have learned so far : Don't volunteer by yourself. Get someone to volunteer so you can take advantage of all the fun benefits. For example, last night they had a huge Volunteer Party... I just didn't feel like driving up there to hang by myself. Second: There are 6 or so screenings that have been happening this week and next that are free for Volunteers... Not going up there to see movies by myself. Now this could just be a personality thing, but I think that it is a longer drive also, so it makes movies by myself even less appealing. Last: I have 7 volunteer voucher tickets that allow me to wait in line similar to a waitlist and exchange for any other shows I want to see. E will have to be waiting in the real waitlist line and will have to pay for tickets because the tickets are just for me!
Other than that I am SOO excited to be up there and helping out and just being up there. I wish I was more of an indie film buff instead of just an event buff, but hopefully the patrons won't ask me too much! :] And I don't mind being on shifts by myself... First one is tomorrow morning at 7:30am, eeek! I will see how I'm feeling tomorrow while trying to make it out the door by 6:15, take me back to high school days for sure!
P.S. I also got pulled over by PCity police last night, silly girl with the new car didn't realize only her running lights were on, WOOOPS! Lucky I apologized like crazy and honestly had no idea. All is well <3
